Species / Key issue: Puff Adder (Bitis arietans) – isolated and threatened (VU) Moroccan populations, highly restricted range, threats from illegal collection and human pressures.
Location: Morocco (areas concerning isolated populations).
Status: Ongoing (commencing with a planning workshop).
To develop a Conservation Action Plan for the Puff Adder in Morocco, based on a shared vision, priority actions, and a budgeted operational plan.
Organization of a participatory planning workshop (CPSG/IUCN approach): diagnostics, threats, objectives, and actions.
Definition of a shared vision and a logical framework (objectives, results, indicators).
Identification of priority actions: reduction of poaching/collection, population monitoring, awareness-raising, management framework, etc.
Construction of an operational action plan and a budget.
Stakeholder engagement (scientists, authorities, civil society, cultural/tourism actors depending on context).
